Historic relic: Lung La – Nha The Provincial Base Area

Lung La- Nha The Base Area is located at Tran Do village, Thanh Phu commune, Cai Nuoc district, Ca Mau province, about 15 kilometers from the center of Ca Mau city. Visitors go along Highway 1A in the direction of Ca Mau city – Nam Can to Nha Phan market, turn right and go about 5km towards the West to Lung La- Nha The Base Area.

In the late 30s of the 20th century, French colonialists frenziedly suppressed revolutionary movements. Many revolutionary bases in the province were detected and destroyed. Realizing the secret advantages of his garden with crisscrossed rivers, close-planted trees, especially luxuriant nipa leaves facilitating disguisement, Mr. Tran Van Thoi actively used his house and garden as a place of the party’s revolutionary activities. In the 1938 – 1940 period, Lung La – Nha The was the meeting place of Tan Hung village branch, Ca Mau County Committee, Bac Lieu Provincial Party and became a permanent body of Bac Lieu province. In October, 1938, a delegate conference was held to establish the interim Party Committee of Bac Lieu province. On June 26, 1940, Bac Lieu Provincial Executive Committee expanded and complied with the Party Committee decisions on Nam Ky uprising, Hon Khoai uprising. The Conference uniformly agreed to divide Uprising Area in Ca Mau – Bac Lieu into 3 sub-areas and selected Hon Khoai as the starting location. Hon Khoai Uprising occurred at midnight on December 13, 1940 and quickly won victories.

Nowadays, Lung La – Nha The Provincial Base Area is included in tourism programs to learn about culture, history and is the place to educate revolutionary traditions of the Party and people of Ca Mau to future generations so that they can have a deeper understanding of Ca Mau army and people’s struggle for fatherland protection during the war years. June 11, 2007, Lung La – Nha The Provincial Base Area is ranked as the provincial historical – cultural site by Ca Mau Province People’s Committee.
