Ca Mau is the southernmost province of Vietnam, has a special geographic location with three sides adjacent to the sea, Kien Giang province in the North, Bac Lieu Province in the Northeast. Nowadays, “It is heard that Ca Mau is far away” song word no longer makes tourists frustrated because the road system to Ca Mau has been invested. It is easier to go to Ca Mau on Highway 1A, Trans-Asia highway, by riverway or by air, which are very convenient. After 20 years of construction and development, the young city of Ca Mau has made a great change , increasingly asserting its position as one of four driving-force cities of the Mekong Delta and also the the center of the Southwestern sea.
Beside the modern facilities, Ca Mau always preserves cultural and revolutionary values such as Buddhist Temple, Hong Anh Thu Quan, Steel House, Tan Hung communal house, Provincial Party Committee base in Lung La Nha The, Provincial Party Committee base in Xeo Duoc, President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Mounument, etc. Tourists can easily visit to learn the struggle process of this heroic land.
It is just over 11km from the center of city – Ca Mau Gas-Power-Fertilizer Industrial Complex. Ca Mau Gas-Power-Fertilizer Industrial Complex has created a strong resurgence, contributing to changing the economic structure of the province, promoting economic development of the Southwestern region and creating a link of the industry – service – tourism -trade.

Ca Mau has a total forest area of over 94,100 hectares with three main forest types: mangrove swamps, brackish- water swamps and forests on the island. Beside U Minh Ha National Park with typical flora and fauna on the peat layer with the high value of biodiversity, tourists can also visit the ecotourism sites such as Song Trem Ecotourism Area or Muoi Ngot Community Tourism Area and take part in exciting unique tourism activities.
Ca Mau Cape National Park has an area of over 42,000 hectares – one of the three core zones of the World Biosphere Reserve and is recognized as the World RAMSAR Site. Every year, the mudflats encroach on tens of meters of the sea, which is a favorable condition for plant and animal species’ development.
Song Trem ecotourism area
Those who went to Ca Mau Cape many years ago will see a tremendous change. Since the Ho Chi Minh Highway, Nam Can – Dat Mui Section was accessible, the number of visitors to Ca Mau Cape increased dramatically. Coming here, tourists will visit the National Coordinate Milestone GPS 0001, the symbol of the windy boat, the symbol of Flag Tower of Hanoi, the “endpoint” mark under the Construction Project for Ho Chi Minh Highway, Nam Can- Dat Mui Section, etc or enjoy the specialties of Dat Mui such as shrimp, crab, fish, oysters, “vop”, snail,etc.
Coming to Ca Mau, you should not forget to visit Da Bac Island – beside the fresh natural scenery, tourists can see countless granite stacked into very unique shape with the legend such as “Fairy Ground”, “Fairy Foot”, “Fairy hand”, etc . And if you want to take a rest, come to Khai Long – where there are long sandy beach and green willow rows and mangrove forest ecosystems. You can also take a full view of beautiful Hon Khoai island.
Beside the beauty of nature, Ca Mau also has many festivals which is a cultural beauty attracting many tourists annually such as Nghinh ong (Song Doc) Festival on the 14th, 15th, 16th of February in the lunar calendar for praying for good weather or Via Ba Thien Hau Festival on March 23rd in the lunar callendar, Chol Chnam Thmay, Ok Om-bok, Sen Dolta Festivals, etc, which shows Kinh-Hoa solidarity in Vietnamese family.
Nghinh Ong (Song Doc) Festival
After attending special festivals, tourists will be invited to relax in the sweet tune of Don Ca Tai Tu or relax with the tales of “Vua noi doc”- Uncle Ba Phi.
The forest and the sea have given Ca Mau a strong attraction to domestic and international tourists and abundant natural resources; therefore, local people established a lot of specific trade villages, namely: fried fish village in Tran Van Thoi district, dried shrimp village in Ngoc Hien district, Salted cattail village in Cai Nuoc district, bottom gillnetting in Cua Lon river – Nam Can district.
Ca Mau has favorable natural conditions and is the leading province in the Mekong Delta for the development of shrimp farming. The province has nearly 300,000 hectares of shrimps; Output reaches nearly 150,000 tons per year and the annual export turnover is nearly US$ 1 billion.
Ca Mau is a young land with many promising tourism potentialities. According the Province’s plan, the tourism is strived to achieve 4.5% by 2020 with 1.7 million domestic visitors and 50,000 international visitors and the tourism revenue of 2,610 billion dong.
With the advantages of natural conditions, ecology, traditional trade villages, diverse tourism products, numerous local specialties and friendly people, Ca Mau is continuing to strive and promote its potentialies and sustainable development to become a developed province and also the “Green Cape” – an exciting destination for domestic and international tourists./.
