Ca Mau strengthens tourism development investment attraction

Ca Mau is the southernmost province of Vietnam, bounded by Kien Giang and Bac Lieu provinces in the north, by South China Sea in the east and south and by the Gulf of Thailand in the west. The natural area of ​​the province is 5,294.87 km2. It is bordered by the sea in three sides and has the coastline of 254 km. Its population is 1,216,388 people. Special geographic location, rich natural resources, ecological characteristics of forest and sea, favorable climate, etc. give Ca Mau Cape more strengths to develop aquatic economy, agriculture, forestry, export processing industry, service, gas exploitation, oil and gas and tourism development.

Ca Mau province owns many tourism sites such as Dat Mui tourism area with National Coordinate – the Southernmost point of the country, Da Bac Island tourism area, Khai Long beach, Thi Tuong lagoon, U Minh Ha National Park, Ca Mau Cape National Park – Ramsar Site – World Biosphere Reserve. Besides, there are communal houses, pagodas, temples and 10 national relics and 24 provincial monuments. Currently, Ca Mau Cape has 36 star –ranked hotels with over 1,520 rooms. In 2016, Ca Mau received 1,069,200 visits, 8% higher than that in 2015 and the first six months of 2017, Ca Mau received 633,035 visits, reaching 53.65% compared to the annual plan.

From the existing advantages, Ca Mau Province has always been interested in developing new and unique tourist products to attract tourists. At present, the provincial tourism industry is calling for investment in key tourism projects in order to diversify products, extend the homestay time as well as meet the needs of tourists to Ca Mau.

Ca Mau Province Trade, Tourism and Investment Promotion Program (2017-2020) was promulgated on May 31st, 2017. Ca Mau strives to attract more than 50 investment projects inside and outside the industrial parks and economic zones by 2020. In particular, there are about 10 FDI projects (Hon Khoai Port, Nam Can Port, hi-tech complex, wind power, solar power projects, etc). Ca Mau is currently calling for investment in 21 projects, of which 02 tourism projects are Ca Mau tourism area (in Dat Mui commune, Ngoc Hien district) with the area of ​​159.7 hectares, investment capital of 1,000 billion dong and Song Trem ecotourism site project (in Thoi Binh district) with the area of ​​110 hectares and the investment capital of 200 billion dong. In addition, Ca Mau Province continues to develop, adjust, announce and implement other tourism development plans such as Nam Can National Tourism Area Planning, Khai Long Tourism Area, Thi Tuong Lagoon Expansion, U Minh Ha National Park, etc.

Ca Mau has many potentialities and advantages of natural resources and necessary and sufficient conditions for tourism development. To become an attractive destination for investors and visitors, Ca Mau will focus on three breakthroughs: upgrading and developing tourism products, tourism services and tourism infrastructure; adopting tourism product promotion policies, Ca Mau tourism brand construction and promotion; strengthening the training of qualified resources and professionalism. Besides, it is also essential to mobilize all resources and create favorable conditions to promote the tourism development of the province in a sustainable way, making Ca Mau tourism development commensurate with the potentialities and high competitiveness on Viet Nam’s tourism map./.
