Ca Mau Gas-Power-Fertilizer Zone
Ca Mau Gas-Power-Fertilizer Complex is approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 776/QD-TTg dated 26/6/2001 and assigned to Vietnam Petroleum Corporation (now PetroVietnam) as the Employer. Ca Mau Gas-Power-Fertilizer Project is the largest Gas-Power-Fertilizer works in Vietnam and also one of the three major economic projects of Vietnam in the 2000-2005 period (Two other projects are Son La Hydropower Plant and Dung Quat oil refinery).
Ca Mau Gas – Electricity – Fertilizer Zone is located in Khanh An commune in the Southeast of U Minh district, about 11km from the center of Ca Mau city. The main work items include a PM3-CM gas pipeline, Ca Mau power plant, the Ca Mau fertilizer plant and ancillary facilities.
Until now, Ca Mau Gas-Power-Fertilizer Complex has been put into operation stability and effectively, contributing to change the face of the regional economy. The works proves the Party and the State’s right policy in cooperation with neighboring countries in efficient exploitation and use of natural gas resources at PM3-CAA, Hoa Mai, Cai Nuoc, etc; is a driving force for socio-economic development, promote economic structure shift of Ca Mau and the Mekong Delta; create jobs, improve and create a stable revenue source of the state and local budget; at the same time, contributing to ensuring energy security, food security for the country; reducing dependency on fertilizer import from foreign countries. Ca Mau Gas-Power-Fertilizer Complex is a modern industrial works, which is operating very efficiently, a highlight in the industrialization and modernization period of the country.
